Bursting Community’s Bubble

Following the news of the shelving the Community mid-season, the internet was (and still is) buzzing with fans registering their disapproval of the scheduling snub, posting links to online petitions and many deciding to de-face their online avatars with evil goatees.

But let’s be realistic here, is any of this going to actually make a difference for the final NBC decision.

Well, my opinion? Probably not. Unfortunately there are bigger powers at play here.

However, the chatter surrounding this comedy cancellation has done a few good things! Ratings for last week’s episode rose a tenth of a point to a 1.6 per cent rating with adults. This is great, but just not great enough.

In the big scary world of network television shows like Community-like situations are referred to as bubble shows, which is basically a show that is nearing the end of it’s seasons and it’s fate when it comes to being renewed is up in the air.

So here’s to hoping that Community’s bubble doesn’t burst!
